About Capt Brian Welzenbach
Captain Brian Welzenbach hails from Maryland. After
a stint in the military he went into construction work but preferred
warmer climates so he joined his sister in Texas where he started
to seriously fish the Corpus Christi and Brownsville areas. He married
and moved to Florida in the early 80s and fished the Naples area.
Naples got expensive so he moved to Port Charlotte and began exploring
the fishing holes around Boca Grande Pass. In 1994 Captain Brian
and his wife came to the Keys for a week of lobster hunting and fell
in love with the Keys and Key West and decided to purchase a home
and resettle. Once moving to Key West Captain Brian transitioned
from construction to charter fishing full time. He is 50 years old
and enjoys golf when he isn’t fishing.

Capt. Andy we had a great time with Capt. Brian and first mate Josh
they both were personable and fun to fish with. Your fishing program
is outstanding and geared to all levels of fishing experience. We
will be back again and tell the people we take out fishing on our
bass trips of your program.

I recently had the opportunity to experience my first
charter that took place on one of your boats with one of your captains.
Let me begin by saying that fishing is (forgive me) not one of my
passions and I don't normally eat fish. So I found myself on a charter
thanks to my brothers and our annual get together. I have heard and
read about charters but never expected the opportunity to actually
go on one. I was very surprised by not only how much fun I had but
how much I learned as well.
I was part of the Grantham brother charter that took place the first weekend
of December 2005 with Captain Brian. Let me say that a well-equipped boat and
an experienced captain made all the difference in this charter and in my experience.
You can tell that Brian takes great pride in the boat from the way he talks about
it, the way it is equipped, its’ cleanliness, and the way he handles it.
After four days of fishing the boat was as clean as the day we stepped on board
and Brain maintained all the gear making repairs as necessary to ensure our ability
in continuous fishing. Set aside the boat, the real difference in this trip was
an experienced and patient captain. I can only imagine that for someone who is
well versed in his or her trade that watching a rookie can be nerve racking.
Me being the rookie, Brian took the time to ensure that I understood the important
aspects of fishing, such as how to properly tie a knot on the hook and how to
pull up and reel down when fish was on hook. It took me the best part of the
trip to understand but by the end I somewhat understood the art of knot tying
and was better at pull up and reel down enough that I added some significant
catches to the box. The whole time Brian was supportive and never tired of explaining
or doing the same task.
This trip was part of something that my brothers and I have started doing on
an annual basis in order to maintain the family unity. It was a great time for
us and we will have stories to tell for some time about the one that got away
or better yet was thrown back.
I must commend your organization as a whole in that you can tell that your people
enjoy their work and set out to ensure that others enjoy their experience as
well.
In that I still don’t like fish, I as well as my brothers look forward
to another charter with Brian and your organization.
Thanks for a GREAT Charter

Capt. Andy I was on a recent charter with Capt. Brian
Welzenbach and I wanted to send you an a-mail to express my thoughts
on 12/01/05---12/05/05.
This was the very best charter and Capt. I have ever experienced and when I come
down to charter, you and Brain will be my first call.
I have chartered with Capt Mell on the Gotcha and Capt Carl on the Bite Me, and
they pale in comparison to your charter, and those boat's had a first mate.
Capt Brian has a great personality, he single handed six brothers with different
personality's and fishing abilities. Capt. Brian educated all of us on technique's
and method's of fishing. We were able to catch almost everything we were after.
Yellow Tail 140 Flag's, Grouper, some for supper every night and six legal to
take home, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia and on and on, It was an unbelievable and
an unforgettable trip.
I would also like to say the boat was in great condition. It was clean and the
engines roared to life every time we moved. Everything was comfortable and we
had no trouble finding everything we needed.
I would like to go on, but I think the best part was the fun that we had and
the closeness we had on board. it is truly the most fun I have had in a long
time. I have come back to work and people noticed I had changed. They are saying
I look happier and I can feel it. I can also close my eye's and still feel the
ship rocking. I almost hope that feeling never goes away
Thank you Capt. Andy and your staff and my new charter Capt. Brian Welzenbach.
I WILL BE BACK !!
Sunset's sunrise's fish day and night, great food right from the back of your
boat. I can not on one a-mail express my thanks to you and your charter company
and especially Capt. Brian.

Dear Andy,
Just a note to again let you know how much fun our trip was. It exceeded all
of our expectations. The scenery was breathtaking. The fishing was outstanding
and we all left pleasantly exhausted. Captain Brian was fantastic and a great
cook as well. You will definitely be hearing from us again for our next trip.
Thanks again.
